Sanofi-Aventis
In June 2003 Sanofi Deutschland GmbH (now Sanofi-Aventis Deutschland GmbH) and Zealand Pharma completed an agreement that granted Sanofi-Aventis Deutschland GmbH exclusive, worldwide rights to develop, manufacture and market ZP10 (AVE0010), a GLP-1 agonist for the treatment of Type 2 diabetes. At that point in time AVE0010/ZP10 was in Phase I/II clinical trial.
After obtaining very positive results in a double blind, placebo controlled Phase II dose ranging study for AVE0010/ZP10 in Metformin-treated patients with Type 2 Diabetes, a Phase III clinical study in patients with Type-2 Diabetes was initiated in 2008.
