AP214/ZP1480

ZP1480 (AP214) is a first-in-class, SIP®-modified peptide targeting melanocortin receptors for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases associated with ischemia and inflammation.

A214/ZP1480 has shown strong effects in disease models to treat and prevent inflammation and organ damage in conditions such as post surgical organ dysfunction. The compound was licensed to Action Pharma on a global basis April 2003.

AP214/ZP1480 has completed clinical Phase I studies where positive surrogate markers have been obtained. A clinical Phase II trial has been launched in the USA in 2008 focusing on renal protection in connection with major surgery for life-threatening cardiovascular diseases. Clinical Phase IIb results are expected H2 2010.

AP214/ZP1480 is targeted at the treatment of patients undergoing cardiac or vascular surgery in risk of post-surgical renal failure.
